ANDERSON PLUG REFURBISHMENT

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 175amp Anderson plug on which I now need to replace one of the cables.  Both cables are soldered into their plug connectors.  In the past - a long time ago - I seem to remember using a screwdriver inserted into the contact end of the plug and using it to depress the contact, at which state it could be pulled out.  Is my memory failing me, yet again?  Am I using the correct procedure, or is there a better way to remove a contact from the plug?

The spring plate under the contact needs to be levered  down with a small screwdriver, access can be got at the side of the contact

access it at the side levering off plastic above

you can see with plug out spring plate sits behind a recess/ step that stops plug from coming out

Stephen, many, many thanks for giving me the solution, complete with photos.  Service doesn't get much better than that!  I remembered that I had to use a screwdriver in the opening, but had forgotten that it is only at the edges that the retaining clip can be depressed.  Job was done within ten seconds of trying, and the old cable has been removed and the new one is ready to be soldered in.

This thread again demonstrates the strength of this forum.  Virtually any technical question asked gets a response from a member who knows the answer or who has solved the same problem.  Many thanks, again.
