FridgeFreezer Posted January 3 Share Posted January 3 If you have 13v with the engine running and things switched on then the alternator is charging the battery. Whatever is wrong with the engine would be a separate thing, the only way the alternator could drag a 200TDi down is if the it seized up but even then it would make a hell of a noise and shred the V-belt. Escape Posted January 4 Share Posted January 4 Put a socket and a breaker bar on the crank bolt and see if the engine turns freely or not. Accounting for compression of course. If something is indeed dragging it down enough to keep it from revving freely, that will have a serious impact on the starter motor as well, with increased current draw so anything amiss with the starter circuit will be highlighted. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
