Simon Smith
Stihl make 3 different ranges of chainsaw. They make excellent proffessional "expensive" saws. They make average farmer range saws. They also make utter cr** cheap saws but still charge "stihl" money for them. Only sell because of the name. I mend them for a living, and I would say if you are buying an expensive stihl, you won't go far wrong. But if you want a cheaper saw, with good spares availability and excellent reliability try the Tanaka range. Above all GET THE SAFETY GEAR AND GET TRAINED. Les Henson
1. Buy the best protective gear you can afford.2. Get trained. Absolutely. I used to cut trees for a living, and although never cut myself, I've seen a few injuries that'll make your toes curl, or not anymore on one occasion. cactus jack
Have you thought of a jonsered?? Apparently, made by husquvana and just as good. I bought one last year and it eats through trees. It was cheaper than the equivelant huski too, and if parts are required they are the same as huski.
