Yostumpy
Hi. my water pump bearing squeaks when cold or damp mornings, temperally cured by a careful squirt of wd 40. Is this the start of a rapid decline ending in replacement, or just land rover engineering. no leaks though!!!!!!!!!!!
Warthog
It will get really anoying after awhile! A new water pump is cheap as. Just hope the bolts come out easily and getting the P gasket to seal proper can be a bugger! There's a thread on here somehere?
FridgeFreezer
If there is a "telltale" hole under the shaft of the pump see if you can get some WD40 or something a bit thicker up there, could help. The pump on the 109 made a horrible noise for months before giving out
freeagent
if you buy a new pump, spend the money and buy genuine, and fit a new, genuine parts gasket aswell... the Britpart waterpump i bought a couple of years ago lasted 11 days, and the gasket was little more than newspaper.. genuine parts are only about £50... you might need to change the housing gasket aswell... make sure you use a smear of sealant... JST
i would change it now why you can, eg on the driveway rather than spend a weekend waiting for recovery man on the side of a motorway etc.
