eddie c
I'm about to blank my EGR valve. I've read all the posts regarding this subjuct. but my valve has water pipes attached to it. What do I do with the pipes? ED
BogMonster
Are you sure? It might have vacuum pipes but if it has water pipes that is a new one on me Can you post a pic? Also what engine is fitted (may be self explanatory from the picture of course!)
eddie c
will get some photos in the morning. It has a branch coming off the bottom radiator hose which goes to a unit attached to the EGR, then a pipe coming off that and goes under the black rubber engine cover. What do I do with the pipes?ED I seem to remember that the later TD5 engines had some kind of cooler attached to the EGR - I guess the pipes you are referring to are for this. Hang on, I'll look it up... --David
imspanners
I think some of the Japanese imports may have them. You leave the valve in place, just put the blanking plates between the EGR valve and manifold. That way the water pipes are not affected. black-ibex
If you are talking about a Td5, then later Euro III models have a cooler built in to the EGR pipe. If you are removing the EGR completely, then simply shorten the top water pipe and join it to the bottom one.

RRX
At a guess i would says it might be for warming up the engine a bit quicker but thats the only reason i could think for doing that
BogMonster
The TDV6 in the Discovery 3 has coolant flowing to the EGR valves, I assume to keep the valve cool under sustained high load, not sure really.
