Good switches?

ROGUE TROOPER

Recommended Posts

I use Contura III rocker switches. They are waterproof and have a modular design. They can by on/off, on/off/on, monetary, with or without light(s). They gang together. Really very nice and not expensive. Theya re the same ones used by ARB for their switches.

This is the manufacturer's page.

These are a couple on my dash.

I bought them from Waytek, http://www.waytekwire.com/

RT - I use these Lucas type switches for my electrics; both the 2 and 3 position ones. they don't look as nice, have no illumination but are robust and cheap.

There is one I have which has contact for pin 2 (very rare!) that is used for the wiper park hence why I kept these style switches when I redid my dash. If I did more homework, I'd probably go for something else.

I did look at the VMP ganged switches but they seemed very ££££. Another option is scrap yard.

Oh yeah scrap yard!!

What are the "dimmer" switches called?

Harry!

Do you mean dimmer switches as used to alter brightness of instrument lamps for example? these would be called dimmer switch although in reality they are a variable resistor or if you are very old, a rheostat.
