Road Rover 1959 model

Thought this might be interest.

Someone is selling the last 1959 Series 2 Road Rover prototype (Only 3 exist, and one of them is at Gaydon).

This appears to be Prototype No.9 which if correct was owned by Maurice Wilks himself on his Scotish estate.

Rover club details here about it:

Yeuch! Glad they'd rethought the styling a bit by the time they did the Range Rover...

Agree, and it wouldn't go down too well with the "Ghillie" on my somewhat more modest Scottish estate. :o

Still the engine might fit yours Geoff ;) How is it coming (yes I do nag ;) )

Geezer wants 6k for the asking price. Too rich much for me.

Possibley worth it to a collector, and a healthy profit over what it sold for a year or so ago!!

I HPI'd it, the number is still with it which is good. Would be nice if it stays together.

Robybrid picked it up this morning. He's going to take the engines out of mine and the donor truck (a disco he's breaking) and then I'm going over with a friend one weekend to help fit the new one.

My kind of weekend :D

I see MikeManifold was the highest bidder, wonder if that's the same guy that writes the column in LRM. It would be good to see it go to someone like that who will appreciate it and do what work that has to be done sympathetically B)
