Gaz69
Hi folks, I am trying to source a late model dash with decent A/C for my 130 project i am building in here in Australia. Are these available second hand in England? Not much luck getting one here in OZ at the moment. Thanks in advance. Are the new bulge bonnets available through dealers or second hand also? Cheers Gaz
alantd
Unusual for people to seek out the new bonnet - normally the other way round!

Porny
I can get complete 'new' defender take off bulkheads - so come with dash, harness etc etc. Only thing you will have to play around with is the clocks to get them working. Or are we just taking late Td5 Dashboards?? (can get these too ) I can also get the new type bonnets either new (from LR) or used salvage ones. No idea on postage to Aus though - a bulkhead isn't light! Ian

paul stage1v8
there were some bonnet copies for sale on ebay. Also someone in Aus was making a mold for some, check outerlimits forum.
Porny
Interesting, that their are "used" bit's about for them now Ian !! It doesn't take long for people to crash them!!! - have seen one written off with less than 5000 miles. In saying that, I know of one breaker that wanted more for a used bonnet than they are to buy new (which I seem to remember is £400) Ian
Gaz69
Hi Folks, I require the later Puma bonnet to give me more engine clearance. I am also after the new A/C in the puma powered defenders as want one that copes with the Australian Summers. Hey Ian, is it possible to get the dash assembly without the bulk head? I am not to worried about the clocks etc but mainly want the new A/C and heater unit. The intrument cluster does not concerm me as i will use the one with that came with the donor engine.I all ready have the TD5 dash in my current 130 but i have stripped it out and trying to source the latest model.Regards Garry. JimC
I think that 07 bulkhead is more than a wee bit different than the old ones. And since you're going to need lots of components from both sides of it, you may as well get the bit sandwitched in the middle. Also, its seems a bit hopeful that an 07 HVAC system could just be grafted onto a non-Puma engine. That being said, I'd love to know how difficult it is in reality, since all I'm doing is spitballing, and lots of guys over here in the USA would be interested in knowing what is involved. Here are a bunch of pix of the 07 bulkhead for your comparison.
Mo Murphy
Looking at a bulkhead from a broken 07 Defender at Billing today for the same reasons as you chaps, I noticed that the dash comes all the way to the edge of the tunnel flange on the bulkhead and it may be that it may foul the gearchange on a normal gearbox. I can't say for certain as I didn't have one to compare to but the dash does come along the gearbox tunnel a long way. Food for thought perhaps ? Gaz69
Thanks for posting those photos JimC. Certainly it is a bit different over the transmission tunnel area. I think i could get this to work though with my bulkhead and i am going to run an auto so do not need to worry about gear shift placement ect. I have sent an email to Equicar to see if they can help me out. I was initially going to graft a disco 2 dash in but they are wider which would be a major job so hence thought i would try to source new style defender unit.Cheers Gaz
