Guppy
I was wondering if there's anyone out there who could give me the lowdown on PAS pipes? My hi-pressure Box-Pump hose has died at the crimped section near the banjo. I tried cutting out the knackered section and securing with jubilee clips but no success so a new one is in order. I'm assuming the new ones don't come 'pre bent' and that it's probably gonna be a b*tch of a job?
Ex Member
New ones should come ready to bolt in.
joe1
You could also try your local hydraulics guy and fit a longer hose - assuming there is still enough meat remaining on the pipe - might be a cheaper solution than a complete new unit...... bishbosh
For the price of the replacement I would go with that as you'll pay similar money from a hydro place IMHO and may end up with something not quite right if you know what I mean.... Guppy
Cheers chaps. Put my mind at ease! It would appear that NTC5001 is the fella. Hopefully with the new pump (installed at the weekend) i'll be able to remove the pipe in situ rather than remove everything again!

Guppy
*Sigh* Another problem. My swanky new PAS (NTC5001) pipe has a different thread on the box end to the old pipe. I'm guessing one is imperial and one metric? Any ideas? I'm thinking of having a local boffin make up an adapter...
western
can you stick up a photo of the pump connections on the pump body? it's the correct pipe going by age & engine. maybe the new pipe is identified wrong.
Guppy
Right! Sorted! After taking a day off work and driving like a madman around north Gloucestershire and South Warwickshire, the old girl is finally reassembled! Turns out that my 'box is in fact a 3 bolt and thus classed as a 'conversion'. There are NO off-the-shelf pipes that will fit. So, armed with both new and old pipes, I was eventually directed through a chain of 8 engineers, eventually arriving at a chap called Richard in Temple Grafton near Stratford upon Avon who is a hydraulics specialist. To cut a long story short, he cut the end off my new pipe, and with the aid of a couple of industrial flanges, bolted the old pipe onto the new. Reassembled, pressurised and all good! Thanks for everyone's help!
