ThreeSheds
On my 90 RRC 3.9, I pull up the button on the crash sensor (under the passenger seat) while the engine is running and wait for it to stall Even so when I split the pipe there was some spillage, but no spurt. I would think that an 89 is similar. Roger Edited: Lifting the crash sensor button effectively switches off the fuel pump.
DC_
Hi Ben matey, I done the filter on my 92 RRC, the manual also told me to depressurise the system, all i done was start the engine, let it idle and then pull the fuel pump fuse out, Then changed the filter with no probs. Hope that helps DC
FridgeFreezer
The fuel filter is in the pressure line, so yes you'll need to depressurise it as described above.
willfromsussex
after it stalls, if you crank it over and try to restart it, it should remove the last bit of pressure.
