discobandit
Hi All, what do you use to check the swivel pre load? All the pictures I've seen it looks like a set of fishing scales. Will these do? Cheers Gary

white90
Remember the seal has to be removed to check pre load
Milemarker Type S
Remember the seal has to be removed to check pre load I may be wrong but didn't someone some where quote a correct figure with the seal left in place?
dooroy
I think a figure of 11 lbs with the seals in place was mentioned - but am open to correction . Will try to find that post - it seems like a lot of trouble having to remove the seals to check the preload . There are 2 300 Tdi's in the family cicrcle and I have set them without any kind of gauge on a few occasions - just an even pull from lock to lock ( with trackrod disconnected ) . And the steering has always been fine afterwards .
andyb
12lbs with seal in place, 4lbs without seal.
discobandit
Thanks folks, I'm fitting a new swivel at the weekend so I'll set it with seal off and then again with seal on to see how they match up. Gary
