Jon W
This is taken from the other post a while back when Chris Watts was thinking of buying a freelander: "Just a quick note on high miler TD4s - afaik you can't rebore them. Dad had to have a new engine fitted to his X-plate TD4 at around 160k (regularly maintained, mostly motoway miles). Mark" Haven't got a clue if this is correct or what would be worth further investigation if it is the case as the engine would only have up to 40k left in it, but saying that it could go on a lot longer and be fine HTH Jon

Jon White
Problem could be that rather than the block not being boreable, it may be that no oversized pistons are available. HTH Jon
Jon White
Hmmm just checked - LFL104980L is listed as a +0.25 piston for a TD4, so my reckoning on that front is that it must be re-buildable! Bottom end shells are also available in -0.25 and -0.50 so again - its rebuildable! Jon
