Despite what others may tell you regarding the appearance of the end of the shaft at the wheel, the only way to be certain is to undo the five bolts holding the shaft in and pull it out of the axle and count the splines. Be sure to park the vehicle so the side you want to work on is slightly hight to prevent the diff oil draining out. With steel wheels you don't even have to take the wheel off.
