West4x4
The hinges oin my td5 and my gf's series 3 have plenty of droop in them and need replacing, main dealer want £13 for one of the earlier type and £28 for the later type. what is the differance and could i be cheap and just replace the pin and not the whole hinge

western
difference is the newer hinges have a nylon washer between the hinge sections that the hinge pin passes through.
West4x4
and that washer means they charge an extra £16!!
western
and that washer means they charge an extra £16!! don't know about that, probably a different material spec/finish or other changes too.

western
the hinge pins are not listed as seperate parts, might be possible to use a Mills or roll pin to replace the original, or drill out the hinge parts & have some new larger diameter pins made. Cat_J
You can knock the pins out with a hammer and something strong then just stick some washers in there
RustyNissanPrairie
You can knock the pins out with a hammer and something strong then just stick some washers in there There isnt enough 'gap' between the two hinge halves to slip any kind of long lasting washer into without having to machine away any material. The newer TD5 style hinges are also thicker and require new bolts-I have stainless ones holding mine on hence why I did my modifications (which seems okay so far-the 110 is my daily driver) as I didnt want the expense of new hinges plus new stainless bolts. The standard hinge pin has splines to hold it in place, they are not available seperately and the hinge body itself wears also, you might as well try my method-its takes less than 10 minutes per hinge! Or send them to me along with some beer tokens and I'll do them.
