simonr
I want to loose the rear seats in my Freelander - and use the rear footwell to hold 6 batteries. I've looked at a couple of commercial floors on eBay - but it is unclear if it includes the structure to box in the footwell? The photo looked like just a flat sheet. Are complete kits available? MJIbex
Hi Simon, Not sure about kits. The commercials are basically just a big sheet of wood with some metal supporting legs. A cargo barrier and black out of the windows. Regards Mark.
dann
lots of commercials have been fitted with rear seats etc, so there must be some LR flooring units lying around. You could try a wanted ad on the forums.
simonr
Thanks for the advice. I eventually found someone with one - but was surprised just how rubbish a piece of construction it was! Just a sheet of ply with some pillars that drop in to the rear footwell. I had hoped it would box in the footwell nicely. Having spoken to Mark (the moderator) - he asked why I wanted to remove the rear seats at all and said that carrying passengers would be more useful (fun) than the extra 25% range that the additional batteries would give me. I decided to take his advice and reduce from 21 to 15 batteries all slung under the vehicle and in the engine bay. I'll make up a pack of 10 batteries that I can fork on to the back of the truck and plug in when I need the range / performance. The truck is pretty much built now. Just in the process of wiring up all the batteries. Should be driving within a couple of weeks! Si
