Hybrid_From_Hell
Erm As I couldn't get the springs I needed (LR No more Make - how jolly helpfull ) I did some recalcs and was going to try Red n Whites 17.71 Ins and 170 Lbs, and then found nope, LR No makey them either FFS..... But, whilst at the LR Specialist I was persuaded to try Allmakes Red & White NRC 4304s so I bought a pair, got home, ....fitted them .... looked and said... "WTF............" Removed springs,.... nope they are not 17.71 ins, ....or even close, they are nearly 17", well one is ......the other is 17.25 (nearly) So, these POS are going back for a refund (no probs there) but I thought Allmakes was better than the standard dreadfull aftermarket tut ?.....or was I wrong ? My thoughts are if they can't make the F thing the right length, was the hope re the poundage being any closer to what it should be ? Thoughts re Allmakes and this problem ? Nige Er, generally "alright" and almost always better than "we know who". The 0.25" isn't the extra length to compensate for driver and fuel, is it? cipx2
did the springs come in some sort of sealed box/wraping with allmakes label? if not, we can imagine all sorts of things not involving allmakes. why not return them and get a proper matching set instead money back? cipx2
..- re "get a proper matching set " from who ? these are S****e, Britpart ? is it worth even bothering, and LR Genuine NLA ....... From the same "LR specialist", Allmakes origin. The springs should have been at least equal in length. I know there are several places on the net where it says free length should be 17.71". But there are several other places where the free length of red/white NRC4304 is given as being 16.95". Can't say which one is right as none of my official RRC manuals has this info. As for the genuine version availability from LR, they were "removed from service" in microcat long time ago. Same as many other parts (200 tdi vintage for example). The law in the automotive industry says they have to supply parts for 10 years after manufacturing & selling the last vehicle of the series. So you can't blame them. I was 99% certain that they should be 17.71" sort of was 'Burnt into my brain' measurement I've done a quick search and find the 17.71 all the time, but not the 16.95" you mention Have you got any links re the above, and is anyone out there who has Red & White off their truck able to do a measurement and post up what they are ?. I was sure 17.71 was the length, would be good to be certain before maoning at the supplier Nige
