Just picked up my 1st LR a nice D2 V8 auto & on the way home noticed that the hand brake,brake fluid light keeps flashing on & off. I will even come on if the door is shut hard when parked up. Checked the brake fluid level & it's at the top Only thing I can think of is a poss broken brake pad warning censor wire, anyone got any ideas. saltyoldseadog Posted September 30, 2009 Share Posted September 30, 2009 Mine's a D1 so I don't know if the system is the same; but could it be the sensor in the top-up tank? What makes me suggest this is that the light comes on when you slam the door which might make the level in the header wobble and trigger the light. teabag Posted October 1, 2009 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Only a few things to check, low fluid level, hand brake not releasing fully or switch sticking on and a brake pad worn down to the sensor wire if this is fitted to your disco. western Posted October 2, 2009 Share Posted October 2, 2009 if the cap looks like this, you can prise the disc off the top & check the contacts are intact & clean. the float has a ring contact & the cap body has 2 small studs which the wire terminals connect too, maybe one of these is loose & causing the poor contact.
