Paul Humphreys
The road known to many at “the Wayfarer” North Wales has a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) placed on it and is closed from 16-11-09 until further notice. This covers from SJ 12965 35532 to SJ 09185 36582. The reason for the TRO is due to water erosion and to allow for the Highways Dept to carry out the repair work. The TRO will last till the repairs are done. I will post back as soon as I know they have been done. Could Admin/Mods please make this a sticky. GBMUD
I think a few of us found out the reason why the other week too! Chris
Paul Humphreys
It has gotten worse since then. I looked at it last thursday and it is very soft. I worked out it needs "fixing" for about 80 meters. Paul
Les Henson
It does need sorting out - Paul has already done some very impressive work with a 'floating road section', but other areas are clearly trying to slide downslope. Water erosion is evident in quite a few places - the lower surface of the pass has become a stream bed with no apparent run-offs from it that I could see. Les. Paul Humphreys
The drainage will be sorted on the lower section when they do the repair. Nice to meet you BTW Les. Paul
Paul Humphreys
Info from a CRAG member Took a LOT of phone calls! He's a hard man to find! They've got a machine in Llanarmon doing a ditch on that day so, while it's there........! Regards, John Paul
Paul Humphreys
Should have quoted this bit All things being equal, repairs on the Wayfarer will be effected on Wednesday 23rd. These will be of a relatively temporary nature to get it back into use before Christmas - any permanent repairs required will be done in the New Year. Should be open for use from Thursday onwards. Pray that they have decent weather for the work!
Rich_P
Do you know what the outcome was Paul?
Paul Humphreys
~The work has not beed done yet due to it been under 5 foot of snow. Paul
Paul Humphreys
Wayfarer is still closed. Forecast temperatures for the rest of the week rule out any work up there, which is being tied in with drain repairs in Llanarmon, but he anticipates that it will probably be done in the latter part of next week, or early part of the week after, at the latest. The above is the latest info I have. Paul
GBMUD
Thanks Paul, I was only wondering about this this afternoon. ...not that I am likely to be using it, I was just wondering if one would be likely to get a Freelander along there without damage. Cheers Chris

Paul Humphreys
I have been up to take a look today. The work has started, but the lane is not impassible right now. The people who are still using it are just making a big mess up there. So please do not try to use this lane till the work is compleated. Anderzander
Any idea when that will be Paul? I've a trip planned, with few days already booked in a B&B, in 2 weeks - I'm really hoping its done by then ....
Paul Humphreys
It looks like it should be done by easter. I would say about 30-40T of stone needs putting in. So as long as they carry on with it this week you should be ok. I will try to take a look before next weekend to see if it is done. Let me know where you will be and I might get out to meet you. Paul Humphreys
Yes and no. A working plan is in process. It will take a bout 200-240T of stone to repair it now. Just working on Wrexham CC to let us do the work and then to provide the stone. Paul
Rich_P
Is the stone to replace the railway sleepers?
Paul Humphreys
No, it is a section a lot lower down than the sleepers. Sorry for the late reply. Paul

Paul Humphreys
Well it stil has the Road Closed signs at the bottom, but not at the top. It is drivable as it has sort of self repaired. Just need to look af the TRO is listed on the Wrexham CC web site. Paul
Paul Humphreys
I have been told the TRO has been lifted. So it will be open again from Sunday. Paul
