M005
I've used my PDA set up with memory map and tomtom successfully for many years, however when I sold up my last 90, the PDA was put away, and over the 3yrs the battery died, I used the cards in cameras and it was wiped clean. I am just trying to get it all back up and running again and am having issues with ActiveSync. I had deleted it from the PC, so downloaded 4.5 from the web. With it installed, MM won't load. Without it MM won't recognise the PDA and install pocket navigator. I have downloaded an earlier version, 4.2, to see if that was the issue but get the same problems. Also I have an infrared USB mouse that won't work with ActiveSync installed. When installing version 4.2 I got an advisory message that the USB drivers weren't compatible with Windows XP, however looking at the release dates of the software it must have been 4.2 I was using with no issues. Google throws up alterations to McAfee firewall and Windows firewall to give ActiveSync access, but doing this makes no difference. Any other ideas? Bowie69
Have you tried activesync 4.5? Been doing exactly what you talk about for a while now, even on XP x64... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-synch.mspx
M005
Yes tried that, I'm guessing either some Windows updates or McAfee or A N OTHER changes in the years since it was last used successfully have caused the problems.
cipx2
Uninstall and wipe out any trace of ActiveSync from PC. Get and install AS 3.7. This is the last 'proper' version. If your pda has wifi/bluetooth, try using those to sync with AS 3.7. To check everything's right start by installing any other software on the PDA, anything freeware and small you can find.
