chassis build advice on axle stands

im looking at gettin a chassis to build up but want advice on the best axles stands to use how many to get (do i only need 4 or will i need/do with more)

4 would be ample, don't go below a minimum of 2 tonnes rating as you'll be adding wieght during the build.

If you intend to build an 8-ton truck

If you're building a complete vehicle, you only need 1-ton stands. 4 of them on each corner will safeley hold a vehicle weighing 4-tons. If you are repairing a chassis, then bear in mind that if you cut out a lot of rot, then the chassis will deform under it's own weight (I made that mistake once).

Halfords axle stands are good - I've had them for years.

£30 gets you 4 good quality stands.

I went for 4 x 3 tonne stands - ratchet type. Obviously over the capacity but the big ones are much wider so more stable. Plenty on ebay.

thanks for that will these be tall enough thought it would be better to have tall ones?
