jamesvfr Posted November 14, 2010 Share Posted November 14, 2010 Hi all Range rover 3.9 on a j plate picked it up cheap as a non runner After cranking it over for a while i can smell a hint of fuel from the tail pipe which sort of says to me that there is fuel getting in but just no spark Checked spark at the plug but nothing then put ht lead coming from the coil v close to earth but nothing It already has a new coil + new plugs, whats the best sequence to be checking + trouble shooting? FridgeFreezer Posted November 17, 2010 Share Posted November 17, 2010 They can play totally dead just from fouled plugs, but ignition amp would be high up my list. Fuel smell suggests the ECU is seeing *something* from the coil (it uses the coil -ve feed to trigger the injectors) so it may not be totally dead. Bowie69 Posted November 29, 2010 Share Posted November 29, 2010 Without looking at the wiring diagram, you may have a blown fuse somewhere... first place to check I would say.
