  1. Hi all 1992 3.9 RRC I havnt had chance to lift up carpets etc yet but was wondering if the wiring is there already for the electric seats? I know a lot of cars will use the same loom for the higher equipped models but just have blanking covers etc + wiring there etc for the lower models Its cloth interior at the mo + if i can find decent electric leather for sensible money i will get it if the wiring is in the car Cheers for the help James
  2. Bit of good news, its alive Theres power at the coil when ignition on but power dissapears when switch is in cranking position so i run a wire from battery positive to coil just to get it to fire, now just got to see why Cheers for the help James
  3. sorry for the error, its an 80" reason clutch will be better is that i will modify bulk head to have the disco clutch master cylinder etc aswell meaning complete box + clutch setup will be the same as a v8 disco/rangie Not too pussed about chopping bits about etc as its more of a puposeful vehicle so moving forward wouldnt be too much of an issue as rad is going in the back soon anyway so that will give more space Think i best get measuring as soon as ive got all the boxes next to each other cheers guys for your replies James
  4. Hi all Got an 88" coil sprung CCV trialler 3.9 V8 on a series 2a gearbox Ive had enough of extremely heavy clutch + also looking at doing a couple of comp safari's Ive got a 1.6 ratio LT230 + an LT77 from a v8 disco im breaking Im thinking run the 1.6 lt230 on the lt77 to give low gearing in high box for acceleration on comp safaris, only thing that is on my mind is will i have enough room for a rear prop? Ive also got a short bellhousing LT77 from a defender + have a series/v8 adapter plate as i think that would help with rear prop issues Rear prob is already tiny Has anyone done this + what do i need to know? Cheers James
  5. Hi mate, i replied on your other thread http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=62442 James
  6. I had this on my 200 shape drivers door, if i pulled extremely hard (almost pulling it off) it would sometimes open, took door off + just had to adjust the handle, all back together + 100% again James
  7. Hi ian underneath the airbox there should be a small hose take off from the inlet manifold if i remember correctly To be honest though id convert it to manual lever difflock, i picked up my 2 door rangie which had a centre diff blown, i replaced the box, used difflock on + off in the drive to make sure working ok but when i used it in anger i couldnt get it out off difflock, no matter how much reversing, spinning up a wheel etc i could get it out + centre diff blew Have a look here at converting it http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=35985 hope this helps James

  10. Hi all Range rover 3.9 on a j plate picked it up cheap as a non runner After cranking it over for a while i can smell a hint of fuel from the tail pipe which sort of says to me that there is fuel getting in but just no spark Checked spark at the plug but nothing then put ht lead coming from the coil v close to earth but nothing It already has a new coil + new plugs, whats the best sequence to be checking + trouble shooting? Cheers James
  11. Hi Got an early LT77 & LT230 from a 2.25 petrol 90 also ive got an LT77s with LT230 from a V8 discovery Im going to use the later LT77s in my rangie but not sure if theres any difference in the LT230's I know about the difference in high ratio but is the low any different? Ive got 32" tyres on the rangie at the mo but may be going bigger next year What transfer box would be best to use? Cheers James
  12. cheers for the replies I must admit good dampers make the world of difference on anything Remote shocks sound pretty good, will have to look into them What i have thought about is run single Old man emu shocks for trials + twin shocks for comps? what do you think? James
  13. Hi everyone sorry for no reply ive been away for a while Ive just found out im having to move so unfortunately wont be able to give any definate dates etc on when id be able to get this off the ground as ill not have to find a cheapish unit to work from so if you can get someone to do then great because i wouldnt would people to be waiting needing panels with no timescale When these are going ahead i will organise group buys etc though but like i say, no idea on when at the moment James
  14. Hi all I know its a difficult mix but ive got a ccv trialer which i will also try the odd comp safari in as i cant afford another just for safari's Trying to decide on best springs + shocks to go for to be a happy medium for the 2 Ive got some old tired rangie springs on there at the mo which are fine for trials as very soft but think could be too soft for a safari would police spec rangie springs be too hard? its an 80" so not very heavy Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated cheers James
  15. Hi all Just wondering if anyone has an assembly / parts manual for an early ryder retriever / come up 8000lb winch? Only reason being is that theres not enough space for the freespool lever in the winch bumper its going in + i need to move it round so theres space Cheers James
  16. Hi all Im currently expanding my workshop, once finished i will have the space to produce some fibreglass + carbon fibre panels etc I know the carbon bits are not realy of interest to off roaders but im just trying to get a feel for whether it would be worth producing fibreglass wings + bonnets for rangies? They would be sensibly + affordably priced but i cannot give exactly at the mo If people could reply whether its something they would be interested in id greatly appreciated it Many thanks James
  17. Kingdong2 - What cfm + air capacity is your compressor / air system? a 1/2" drive gun will use a lot of air Will need 3/8" bore hose otherwise the gun will most likely not get enough air through the hose even if compressor is man enough James
  18. Id also be interested in whos best They are only $295 at the mo + dies James
  19. http://www.stakesys.co.uk/department/tube_bender_machines/ Pro tools 105 complete bender £799 inc vat I found their website to be very slow but gets there in the end I think i remember the guy saying they can also make you special sized dies if needed James

  21. Hi all Got to build a new exhaust system for my triller, system that was on it was quite nasty but worked so i left it but the tin work has eaten it beyond repair Its got a 3.9 in it Any one suggest best exhaust diameter for primaries + after it joins to 1? I was thinking 1.75" then 2.5 or 3" Cheers all James
  22. Hi all Ive picked up a boxer 4 SU carb setup complete a while ago for my 3.9 trialler Just wondering if anyone has any base carb setting i should work from? They came of a lightly played with 4.6 racer so will be too rich + i just need i rough base setting to work from Cheers all james
  23. Give these guys a shout in rainham http://www.tracknroad.com/ They are extremely knowledgeable + very well known I have not had anything mapped there but do know of a few people who have had high powered cars mapped there with excellent results + never any problems James
  24. Heres my best effort Not land rover related, its a 1000cc V Twin bike engine Rod snapped coming out the front of the engine, shearing the starter motor straight off the crankcase + bending the shaft of the starter motor Smashed off almost all the liner from the bottom of the barrell, all the skirt smashed off the piston + was then sideways in the cylinder but strangely no scoring or marks on the cylinder wall, probably as there was no skirt The snapped rod then imbedded itself in the crankcase Sounded like a box of bolts when i took it out was doing approx 85 when it went, 600ft of oil later + rear wheel covered in oil, was a close shave Enjoy the pics
  25. Also its a result as now i know they are front due to the length + its a set of +2's i need for the front of my disco
