RoaryV8
Dont thinks its that bad of a job, think Cross-member has to be removed to drop the sump but other than that just general undoing etc....
teabag
Also on a Tdi a gearbox mount has to be removed to enable access to a sump bolt so it will require a support while the job is being carried out. V8s require the Y pipe and cross member removed.
Range Rover Blues
Also on a Tdi a gearbox mount has to be removed to enable access to a sump bolt so it will require a support while the job is being carried out. It does? damn hadn't noticed when I weighed the job up. On the V8 the hardest bit is splitting the sports pipe. just be careful with the torque setting on the sump, too easy to strip the bolts. I was tempted to conevrt to studs last time. Also the rubber gasket is a faff to keep in place. Before you do it though have a look at Ashcroft's website regarding changing oil. Often disturbing the oil in a neglected gearbox makes things worse!
mudmagnet
maybe i will just leave it well alone after reading the ashcroft site the oil is clear red so should be ok
Range Rover Blues
Lucas oils do an additive to "rejuvenate" old oil. I tried it in my new oil to help protect the gearbox from my big engine. My forst box it worked well, when that whent the second hand box I fitted lasted 180 miles, so I don't think anything would save it.
