Snagger
Hi again. I bought a second hand speedo to send of for recalibration when I do my axle swap. It's in MPH and has the trip meter as well as the odometer, and is definitely a SIII unit (the voltage regulator mountings and "shadow"from where a stabiliser has been fitted are a give-away). The numbers at the bottom of the face don't match those in my 109 (SNT 6209/24 1306), which is surprisingly accurate. Can anyone tell me what this unit is from - my guess is that it is from an 88" with 6.50 tyres, but it might be from a Stage I V8.
Retroanaconda
1503 turns per mile, compared to your 109's 1306. So it's for a vehicle with smaller wheels (ie. more turns required for each mile) that yours if your speedo reads accurate
Phil Hancock
1504 is for SWB with 6.00 or 6.50 tyres.
Snagger
Thanks, guys. That's actually quite good news - the Lightweight's speedo was playing up and a new cable didn't fix it. The speedo head is knackered - with the mechanism removed, the needle sticks and seems to have a broken return spring. I'll get it rebuilt at some point as it's the original, showing the correct odometer reading but also in the correct KMH calibration. This second hand unit will do in the mean time (I'd leave it in as it's easier to read the MPH scale, but Helena want it more original), but is showing nearly 20,000 miles too much. I opened it up to clean it up, oil the mechanism and respray the bezel - it looks like new except for the odometer.
