willfromsussex
Am building up a 72 car from a pile of parts really and I don't have any front mudflaps, but I do have one front bracket. Can't see any holes on car for the brackets but I think that's because of previous repairs in the area where the holes would have been. Questions: *Did all RR's have holes for those brackets? *Did they always come fitted with front and rear flaps from the factory? *Lastly, what colour should the front and rear brackets and stays be, body colour? black? Thankyou!

Thankyou! I have a set of front flaps for RRC floating around in my garage. I should imagine they're aftermarket ones, but the brackets are satin black. Any good to you? I can't see body coloured brackets looking very good or ,being there being much point, as they are pretty well tucked away under the car. I would guess that front flaps may well have been an option on early Classics. To have mud flaps on any car at all used to be an option. mwgriffiths
Front mud flaps were a £2.80 option extra from October 1972, but I can't say I've ever seen an RR with them.
Bowie69
My current Rangie with front mud flaps: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=23250&st=0 Doesn't look like that anymore though http://www.thebowaters.co.uk/landrover/rangerover/rally2010/IMAG0194.jpg So unfortunately no mudflap brackets
Range Rover Blues
Brackets were black later on, I have a new pair somewhere. They fit roughly level with the end of the sill, slightly ahead of the chassis outrigger and bolts through the floor in 3 places. I think they were optional but I don't do older RRC. My LSE had them but they are a distant memory now.
willfromsussex
Thanks. Yes i realise they were out of sight but so is the whole underneath of the body and they painted that Just remembered I have a new bulkhead sitting here on the shelf so I looked at that to see where the holes should be. Range Rover Blues
There are some for sale on the bay and they are silver. Ealry RRC might have been body colour underneath but later ones would have been bitumised (undersealed) plus the production process changed so that the paint was applied at a different point of the build.
