ajh
Since I don't have access to a Disco 200TDI to compare, how different is the injection pump from the Defender one? (how LR thought making two different engine configurations was a good idea and cost-effective is a good example of why there aren't too many brands left....) I gather they're not interchangable. western
200Tdi FIP's are interchangable, there's no external difference IIRC.
ajh
Can you explain this then? http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?xSearch=200TDI+fuel+injection+pump&submit.x=0&submit.y=0 The OE Disco one is listed at 1/5th the price of the OE Defender one, even cheaper than the reconditioned Defender one. tacr2man
I cannot be certain of interchangeability, but the two part numbers ERR1333 defender, and err459 discovery is most likely down purely to how they are set up , to allow for the power delivery characteristics , esp in view of turbo mounting differences between disco and defender . It is highly unlikely that there is any physical difference , as you mention , it would not be logical from cost/engineering pov . I have never heard of anyone saying that they have been unable to fit pump from one to another .
ajh
Which leaves me wondering... why the price gap. I've more or less worked out tuning the things from first principles so a different starting tune isn't an issue. A reasonable price for a brand new pump though... western
could be a typo error or just due to the rarity of Def 200tdi engines, other suppliers have it listed at much less cost http://www.lrdirect.com/ERR1333-Injector-Pump-90-110-200Tdi-New/ http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/5175/all/782/ERR1333-PUMP-INJECTION-200-TDI.html http://www.rjs-land-rover-spares.com/eshop/injection-pumprecon-p-5502.html http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/products/err1333_use_err1333e.php
