Richy B
Hi all, I need to change the rear diff oil seal on a 300 tdi disco, am I right unthinking the flange is tricky to get off ? A puller or special tool maybe required ) done loads on defenders but not disco, many thanks
Biffo
You've got to pull the centre pin out of the flange first to get at the flange nut, i think (it's along time ago I did mine!) that a long bolt with numerous packing pieces to pull it out, a bit of heat on the flange helps. Once you've got it out, why not fit a flange (& spacer) from a 200TDi along with the propshaft then you've got rid on that bloody doughnut! Les Henson
Slide hammer if you can get hold of one. Thread in the centre of the pin is M8 coarse. Alternatively - use packing washers and a bolt/nut to pull it out. Les.
RaDi90Hybrid
Heat, heat and then a bit more heat before you use the slide hammer, that was my discovery on both occasions when I had to take mine out. On the second occasion I didn't put it back in, I changed to a prop with UJ's both ends.
