Retroanaconda Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 I believe it is meant to stop any water that gets in through the kink in the door seal from getting into the door innards, diverting it instead down the outside of the water shedder and out the bottom? Knowing Defender doors and their propensity for water-ingress I don't think you would notice a great deal if they weren't there. Just make sure the door seal is good.
