Alloy wheel nut covers

Recommended Posts

I'm new to alloy wheels so please excuse me if this is a stupid question. Anyway, I just lost one of the chrome covers covering the weel nuts. Are these covers sold separately or do i have to change the whole wheel nut?

No, you'll have to change the whole nut. Rattle guns wreck them.

The best thing to do is to check the caps on the new nuts - the caps locate over the nut body and crimp around a groove machined in the base of the hex piece of the inside (by hex piece I mean the bit you put the socket on).

You can put them in a vice and get a small cold chisel and tap at each "corner" around the base of the hex shape on the outer cap, it's only thin so this will distort the cap better and make it grip onto the nut.

There is another solution.

Wrington Stainless steel wheel nuts for alloy wheels.

As it happens I am selling a set!

New they are £300, yes £300!

I am selling mine for £150.

Only used for a few months, gone over steel Wolf wheels for an expedition.

Going on Ebay later this week.

PM if interested.

John
