300TDi Getting hot and losing water...

Recommended Posts

I had this a while ago. Leaks and seepage can sometimes be hard to trace as the under bonnet heat evaporates coolant. After having replaced ancient radiator, hoses and water pump gasket, I eventually traced it to the pump spindle. The give away was the spray pattern under the bonnet. At least I now have a new cooling system.

If its the P gasket you will see coolant stains down the front of the block , under the manifolds where the timing belt case and block face joint line is.

Not a complicated job , but you do strip the front of the engine down to get to it , the 2 things that can cause probs are un-doing the crank bolt and removing the crank pulleys.

It could be from the waterpump bearings so check that too
