Baz2236
Hi I am having a bit of trouble starting my converted 200. I have to run the glow plugs for 20 seconds before I try and start it. If I just jump in and try to start it will struggle to turn over or start just clicks. But as soon as I put glow plugs on for 20 seconds it will spin up straight away. What would cause this affect how can I stop it. I used to be able to just start with glow plugs. It has been suggested it could be the pump is turn up a little too much and the bores are full of diesel when I first try. Could it be timing related. Maverik
Hmmm, can you find another battery to test whether or not that ones duff? - i think thats what I'd rule out first.
vulcan bomber
Battery or a carp earth from starter to battery. The injector pump has a spring on the govenor to throw more fuel in than the engine needs just to be sure, hence the black belch of smoke at start up... More fuel from pump mods will just make an easier starting engine and a bigger belch.
Baz2236
I think the battery is ok as I have connected it to another one on my car. Done the jump lead to starter motor and had a jump pack on the battery. If it is the battery why does it start so easy after I have had the glow plugs on for 20 seconds. welshsurferdude
Could be poor battery or bad earth?
