FridgeFreezer
Happened across this and thought it may interest / serve as a warning, I'm sure it's not just Rolson that could have this problem: Category: Motor vehicles Product: Vehicle starting aid - 3 in 1 Quick Start Brand: Rolson Type/number of model: Model number 42959. Bar Code 5029594429597. Description: Vehicle starting aid with light, compressor and pressure gauge. Country of origin: China Injuries The product poses a risk of injuries because of the gross inaccuracy of the pressure gauge (errors recorded in excess of 50%) resulting in the incorrect inflation of vehicle tyres, which may cause a vehicle accident. From the rather enlightening European Commission Index of Unsafe Products
Adam001
This a fairly generic point from anything made in China. Their government operate in such a way companies there can sell dodgy products worldwide with no repercussions. I'd rather spend 4x the price than have anything from there now. Simon Smith
I see lots of Chinese stuff come in to the workshop, and it's very difficult to know what is good and what isn't. For example Honda, Briggs and Stratton and Toro all have very good engines built in China. Whereas Stihl and Ryobi have some complete rubbish built there. (Sorry Stihl fans but in future check where it's built before spending your money) Then there is the stuff that makes Ryobi look good, such as Spear & Jackson and most of the DIY store own brands. Most of these the box is worth more than the carp inside.
Maverik
hmm, i am rather cautious of quite a few cheaper pressure guages, always carry a pencil type pressure guage thingy to verify whats going on...
