Guest
Hi Guys, I am just about to take delivery of my (new to me) ARB bumper, does anyone know where I could get it shot blasted and powder coated, around the M40/M4 corridor Reading at the Centre but happy to go a bit further afield for good service. landroversforever
Jason, I've heard good reviews of this place: http://www.professionalcoatings.co.uk/ Wrexracing's 90 trayback cage was done by them I believe and it held up great . landroversforever
It would probably mean a couple of holes in it, but you can't beat galv for making it last... and powercoat over the top .
Guest
Well I mailed lots of people got quotes from them and then looked at the recommendations I had received, Some wanted stupid money £500+ I always feel people quote this much when they don't want the job, some couldn't do it because of the size of it, as it wouldn't fit in their oven. In the end I decided I would try Procoat near Newbury, they were not the cheapest but again not the most expensive. I met the boss Aston when I dropped it off he was a really nice bloke and showed me round his plant and there capabilities. I have not seen the results yet but looking at the other bits in the workshop I don't think I will have any issues. They were really busy which is nice to see, and the size of the ovens was very impressive, you could drive a Land Rover through them!! But he was also keen to point out that little jobs were not an issue, and they could put it in with other jobs. They also do Alloy wheels, so I asked and a 16" wheel would be £40 + Vat for blasting filling and powder coating in what ever colour you can pick!! Jason. CwazyWabbit
If it's not being rude, how much was/is it to have your bumper/bull bar blasted and powder coated?
Guest
If it's not being rude, how much was/is it to have your bumper/bull bar blasted and powder coated? That's not being rude Barry, it's costing me £180 inc VAT for the blasting, hot zinc coating and then Powder coat. The lowest price I got was £102 and as I say the highest was over £500 there were two below the £180 and six above. However when I factored in recommendations from here and other forums they won hands down. They specialise in industrial projects which have a 25 year life hence the zinc coating, with a lot of these things it's also down to gut feeling and so far I was very impressed. Jason. landroversforever
The hot-zinc coating... is that dipping or some other process?

There is far too much bad powdercoating done in the UK
Adam001
Maybe that's the case. I've never owned a powder coated item that hasn't rusted away! But then I do expect my bumpers to get badly scratched, that's their job, paints easier to touch up

There is far too much bad powdercoating done in the UK Out of interest does anyone know where safari equip get theres done? Only asking cos my dads spare wheel carrier is soooooo plopplops! Dont get me wrong the wheel carrier was nicely made but the powder coating finish was dire! Finish started peeling off and is rusty everywhere. My one from paddocks has far surpassed it in that respect. Also well built but is was for hard top and mine for truck cab so not directly comparable that way. Guest
Aston (MD) was fairly enthusiastic as to why mine had rusted and for £5 worth of zinc paint would prevent the metal going rusty if the PC does get damaged. Ross the 'Hot Zinc' they use is just a zinc paint warmed up and then sprayed onto the metal before the PC is applied. Jason.
