Guest
I know that a lot of you will already know this but for those who don't or have forgot I thought it may give you something to look at and get nostalgic on a Saturday afternoon. I am currently writing a consultancy document for a customer and needed to highlight why they need to change the way they do business even thought they are convinced they are and have always been ahead of the curve. Then I remembered about a web archiving site I have used a few times in the past http://archive.org/web/web.php I was able to pull off a copy of the customers web site together with a copy of their closest competitors website showing that they had typically been 8 months behind the curve!! Why is the relevant here? well sometimes the question is asked on here as to why the forum was busy on seemingly random times, this sites data mining activities together with Google and others are an example of why. http://wayback.archive.org/web/20051115000000*/http:////forums.lr4x4.com// Jason. Nigelw
Funny thing I noticed from the graphs is that the site is particularly busy in the month of October, wonder why?
simonr
The web archive mostly gets used for trademark or IPR infringement litigation! Indeed, I have used it for just this! I thought I would have a look at the first version of X-Eng while the site was under construction. You can see that my liking for daft product names started even before the company officially started http://web.archive.org/web/20050316015128/http://www.x-eng.co.uk/ Si

Guest
Si, to save costs on production of the X-muff did you move production to Brazil? Oh no I just did a search for a Brazilian X-Muff and it doesn't look like it will be compatible with a Defender although it does look like it could keep you warm in the winter months
simonr
No, the reason the X-Muff didn't go in to production was that it needed a hole, or at the very least an opening flap - otherwise there is a chance of over-heating. Unfortunately, different people and applications needed different size holes - there was no "one size fits all" solution! Si
