gadget
A lot of the parts i've ordered to rebuild my front axle have arrived. It's always a good day when you have a box of shiny parts to rummage through I've ordered based on the diagrams at numcat, and on there it shows FRC4206 being a gasket between the swivel seal and its backing plate. The mounting holes on the gasket don't match the backing plate and swivel housing. Is there a later replacement for the gasket or was it discarded? Retroanaconda
From LA930456 it appears, according to the parts info at least, that indeed there is no gasket under the seal retainer plate.
gadget
In that case i'll worry not. Thanks.
landroversforever
Didn't rebuild my swivels with a gasket there... just a squirt of RTV round the back of the seal plate things.
Retroanaconda
It coincided with the change to grease in the swivels rather than oil, so perhaps they felt it was unnecessary from that point forward.

The gasket may have been to prevent EP90 leaking out? Interesting. That would be a reason to run with oneshot rather than oil. The oneshot didn't do a good job of lubing one of the upper bearings in one of my swivels. Rusted quite badly...
