the infamous ERR 3337 - TDI EDC injector

Recommended Posts

Does the injector just have a pressure transducer to tell the ecu about No 4 firing? If that's the case then it might be possible to just replace with a crank angle sensor or a separate transducer.

Anyone have any information, I'll look in Rave at the moment, but I suspect it just says "special"..

Edit:

An inductive sensor in No 4 injector body monitors

needle movement. This forms part of a ’closed loop’

system to control start of injection.

The system measures timing, relating the needle

movement signal to crank position (determined by

flywheel pulses from the engine speed sensor).

That's going to be tricky to replace with a secondary sensor I guess.

Hi Ralph, I too saw that Turner re-conditions and e-mailed them before posting here and they replied almost imediately saying that they do not re-condition these.

Guess I'll have to continue searching and pray that the LR Gods help.

Do any of the other Rover injectors from engines such as the 2.0 SDI use similar arrangements?

I've heard of people fitting 200/300tdi nozzles to the 2.0 L series injectors for more fuelling, so perhaps the injectors are similar enough that they can be used the other way round.

Are Turners saying that they can not be refurbished, or just that they don't do it? Is the only solution going to be a conversion to the non edc system fitted to manual gearbox Discoverys? I think our edc Doscovery could do with replacement injectors and so this question is of interest to me as well.
