meatymc
HiThis is obviously not a unique problem but the threads I've found tend to relate to issues after a new plate has been fitted which doesn't apply in my case. 90 truck cab with 115k on the clock - 6k done since purchased 15 months ago. Have a lot of old receipts but no mention of any work on the clutch but that doesn't mean a lot obviously. There has been no slippage whatsoever just the biting point got lower and lower over a distance of 4/5 miles. Seemed to steady off at around an inch from the floor but reluctant to risk it getting worse to the point can't get into gear so sat on drive - bloody annoying having soft-topped it the weekend before with the weather as it is!No signs of fluid loss anywhere - cylinder still full and master cylinder nice and tight when depressed by hand from above. Clutch pedal set 2 cm too high so lowered to 140mm from floor as per manual but can't see this would have any impact. Breather clear on cylinder cap.Guess we try replacing the fluid although understand this is a pain - any idea what quantity is needed by the way? Then, if no better, replacing the master and/or slave but see comment on master above. Is there any other way of determining the fault source and what else might it be???Any comments appreciated.Cheers
Disco1tdi
I would suggest that pivot point has punched through the clutch fork....

dailysleaze
Sounds hydraulic to me. If there's no fluid loss then there's an internal leak in the master cylinder. Give it a bleed first to see if it helps, in which case air is getting in
Gremlin
Or the fluid getting really hot. G
Lorrick
Hi Meatymc I had the same thing and it was the Dual Mass Flywheel was comming lose from the rubber inserts, so as you pushed your foot down on the clutch pedal the whole flywheel was mong away giving the impression of a low pedal, just had mine done, I have a 110 Truck with 180,000 on it. meatymc
Thanks for all the replies. You'll understand I'll take the easy/simple/cheap options first but given I've nothing to say any work has ever been done on the clutch/box suspect that's where I'll end up. Beyond my limited ability so looks as though could be costly!
