ronnie_rotten
a weird thing happened when out in the disco. this was the series of events... hazard lights came on for no reason. stoped the car, put hazard light switch on and off, still flashing. with the switch on, the relay next to the fusebox in drivers footwell clicked in time with the hazard lights pulled the plug on the bottom of the imobiliser box(?), alarm sounded. plugged it back in again. thought i'd better see if i'd dropped a whatsit doing that, so tried the blip-blip key fob. did nothing. tried to start the engine, thinking i'd probably burgered the imobiliser. fired straight up, and the hazards stopped. drove home, no further issues. so. anyone know what's going on? i hate imobilisers, and i'd be happy to rip it out if it can be done without messing up the central/blip-blip locking. any i]suggestions would be appreciated. SPendrey
Could be the inertia switch, sometimes these can be quite sensitive. It is located down near (maybe on) the same PCB as the alarm system. One of our offroad group used to be flashing his way around the Wiltshire countryside! ronnie_rotten
ok, so the alarm was activated by somewhat less than smooth west of ireland carriageways? i'll buy that. sounds not terminal.
teabag
Nothing to do with the alarm. Just turn the ignition switch off-on to reset , simples. The info is in the owners handbook.
UdderlyOffroad
Definitely done that before too, ie bounced around the lanes in Somerset and ended up with hazards on. Took several attempts at ignition on/off before the blady thing would cease flashing! Matt

Rangy35
Yes they do put the flashers on if the road is a bit bumpy. The new Disco's, Range Rover Sports do that if you do a emergency stop. Cycling the ignition is the only way to cancel/reset it.
