zim
Yes, i know they're available - but we knocked one up out of a a modified air ram we had. Machined a new piston for it, with a pin on the end. Made a boss for the ram to screw into and also be a guide for the piston pin. Drilled out and tapped the TDS housing to accept this boss. (Stainless) Piston in progress : Bad picture, but mounted in the boss in housing : G
mickeyw
Looks good, but quite a lot bulkier than the Goodwinch version. I made my own air cylinder from Acetal rod, mainly because the position of my TDS winch in relation to the spot lights required something lower profile. Cynic-al
Never really thought about how the free spool works on the tds until now but I am copying that idea
zim
Our rear winch quick modification isn't as high tech, but just as effective G
simonr
What grade of steel did you make the pin from? I made a solenoid operated version using EN8 - and after a few months, it sheared! Replacement was EN24 which survived. It's why the Goodwinch version re-uses the original pin. Si
