cra42
Just bought 1980 88". Came with a overdrive and I can`t identify. Also any idea where would check and fill with oil? I assume the cover? Thx, Ryan
Paul Woodward
It looks like a Toro unit. Like a Fairey one but supposed to be stronger. On the Fairey ones that raised boss on the right of your photo has a filler/level plug. I would think if you take the top plate off and fill to the same level it will be fine. Serious Series
Is that not an oil level plug top right of pic on rear if it is brass with a seal under it that would be my bet.
samc88
Looks a lot like a Fairey one except it hasnt got a dipstick
samc88
If the oil capacity is the same as a Fairey one it should be approximately 0.4 litres (3/4 of a pint)
FridgeFreezer
Looks very similar to a fairey but no dipstick. Still has the jiggle pin vent in the top like a fairey, so just pour oil in regularly & it'll continuously eject what it doesn't want out of the top until it's empty or you pour some more in. CwazyWabbit
The toro unit should have a filler plug and dipstick according to the manual but yours hasn't been drilled for it. That said they may have gone over to the just drain it all out and refill it method. Anyway quantities in the manual here https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4AohDs1ejqzODAxNGViNTUtYjViMC00YjgwLWFiZWYtODhkOTQ2NDljNzQy/view
CwazyWabbit
looking at the manual that black cover is the wrong way around ...... edit:Looking at the manual again there is a little note saying the oil filler dipstick plug is only on older models.
