The incredible cold running engine....

could be, early Tdis seem to have had 82degree stats anyway. i replaced mine with an 88degree one, heater is much better now as well.

had you driven far to the test center? seems to take 20+miles to get mine fully warm.

the engine oil temperature measured by a probe in the oil level dipstick tube is to be at least 80°C, or normal operating temperature if lower (60°C minimum). Testing an engine below normal operating temperature may affect the test result

so could use 60 deg then for pre '79

and after '79 is just says

. the engine is at normal operating

temperature
