unfit
Is vaseline a normal fix for a leaking sunroof, or should I be stripping out the seals come the summer?
western
remove the glass & wash/dry/stow it where it won't get busted, wash/dry the seal warm soapy water & a small nail brush/towel will do the job, then give it a good rub with castrol red rubber grease or vaseline. then refit the glass part. miketomcat
I did the same as western but used silicone grease though I've not opened it since and it still doesn't leak 4 years on. Mike
oneandtwo
Assuming you have the later type wind up sunroof - remove the glass by unclipping it from the handle, peel down the velvet trim finisher. This will reveal 15 or so torx head screws. Undo all the screws and the sunroof frame can be lifted off the roof. You can then seal it properly between frame and roof with sikaflex etc and reinstall it. I've done both mine like this and are bone dry inside despite current weather.
