When Im Tig welding I tend not to wear gloves, but usually it is pretty small welds. Mig welding I use a thick welding gauntlet on my left hand and either noting or a tig glove on my trigger hand. Funnily enough even though I may be lax on the gloves I wear a 3m half mask with particulate and metal vapor filters, it makes it much more pleasant and easier to concentrate on the welding instead of breathing. The only down side is you cant tell if you have set fire to something until you get hot or your eyes start burning.....

We portacount all our respiratory protection at work to get a quantitative measure of their effectiveness.....For what it's worth, these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sundstrom-SR-100-Half-Respirator/dp/B0063464MA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471441430&sr=8-1&keywords=sundstrom+mask and these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/3M-Aura-Disposable-Respirator-9332/dp/B008GQ31TM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471441590&sr=8-1&keywords=3m+ffp3 have the same FFP3 'rating', but we get consistently much better results with the Sundstrom 'half-mask' type (3M make one too). I can't remember the actual figures but can get them if anyone (other than me) is reeealllllyyyyy geeky.

To be fair, the main reason, other than not liking the smell of singeing hair, it was the amount of muck it picks up, especially when grinding/wire cup brushing. I also wear a face mask more often now to avoid the same thing, as well as protect my lungs!

Now I have an image of you in S10 and full NBC kit!
