reb78
I'd like to make a short loom that converts the white connectors on a spare pre-td5 dash to the correct connectors for the td5 dash. Any ideas as to where I could get male connectors for these? And does anyone know which warning light panel plugs do I need for the td5 dash? Arjan
Contact Debbie at "sales@autosparks.co.uk" They supplied me from stock with these connectors.
western
IIRC PaulMc on here can supply those plugs, he has a ebay shop. here you go Richard --- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFENDER-TD5-Instrument-Warning-Lights-Connectors-Terminals-Clocks-Gauges-/151462720313
reb78
Perfect. Thanks Ralph. Any ideas if I can make something to plug into the old white connector on the original loom? I can make it inside in the warm then and just plug it all in outside!
western
the only thing to plug into the long white connectors is the matching warning light panel, don't know of any thing else that will fit, I wouldn't bother keeping the old plugs on the loom, some connections are live with ign on & plugs disconnected
reb78
Looking at the spare i have on the table, I'm wondering if i could carefully cut the plastic and flexible PCB off of the old warning light panel and solder wires on so that it will plug in correctly to the one on the car. Then i can join the other ends to the appropriate terminals on the connectors from Paul. I wonder if this will be too fiddly though. I was trying to avoid lots of cut and splice connections behind the dash.
western
sounds far to much work to me, the spliced in wire don't take up much space behind the instrument pack. My 110 is done in a similar way
Scotts90
Ditto what Ralph says...sounds like a lot of hassle. You may benefit from a plug and play but a decent multiplug or solder join would be a lot better. If you were meaning to switch back to the old panel then fair enough but are you likely to?
