bishbosh Posted January 7, 2009 Share Posted January 7, 2009 Try this. Hand brake on in diff lock. Chock the rear wheels. Support the front axle on axle stands. Support the diff nose with a third stand or a jack. Remove arms and panhard. The axle shouldn't move but the body will move laterally when the panhard rod is removed but this is easily dealt with when you refit. Change the bushes, and refit. Peasy! Reiny Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Work on one arm at a time. The twisting will be limited. Assist the arms in using a small bottle jack and you should have no problems. Les Henson Posted January 8, 2009 Share Posted January 8, 2009 The nose of the diff will drop, but that can be prevented with a jack or axle stand (or easily jacked back into alignment. Removing the panhard rod allows the body to move towards the passenger side by about 40mm. Removing both radius arms makes the axle move forwards. Put the chassis on axle stands with the wheels still on the ground. Chock both wheels - in front and behind. Place a jack under the nose of the diff, and then remove the panhard rod and radius arms. The body will still move sideways, but everything else should stay in line more or less. If the axle moves forward, it's a pig to get it to line-up again. Les.
