  1. id say look elsewhere for the problem, ie head gasket, if you are losing water.
  2. this is all starting to make sense now....! no i havnt got a timing light, can anyone reccomend where i could get one from?
  3. where the bolt heads catch, either side of where the bearing sits.
  4. yeah that is correct, sounds like they sent you one for a efi type then. youwould have thought they would try and keep the exhaust away from the started realy.
  5. ah right sounds about right, i used a 24spline casing for mine.
  6. could it be that you have the older pre efi starter on it? which is bigger. as far as i am aware they never changed the position of the starter. and surely a 110 engine bay is the same as a 90 so it should fit either of these.
  7. i dont remember coming accross that problem....unless you can just replace them with rangey type?? or is the centre bigger?
  8. yes but its very tricky and will probly end up with removing the head anyway.
  9. dont buy britpart tensioners or idlers......i learnt the hard way.....
  10. yeah its a simple job, bolt the crown wheel to the 4pin centre, drop it all in the casing and you will soon see where it hits the casing, just get the grinder out and 'machine' it down.
  11. update..........changed water temp sensor today....runs fine on petrol and gas....warmed it up switch from gas to petrol....revs drop then idle at around 1000rpm, try and boot it and revs wont go over 3000rpm, switch to gas revs freely.....any ideas?
  12. i agree, landrover made them rubber for a reason, i had pollybushes on my old 80 leafer, didnt last very long at all. the only plus being they came out easier than the originals, went back to rubber and they've been in 2 years now.
  13. did the other bloke survive? he'd have done well to looking at the car, you were lucky by the looks of it!
  14. very helpfull site thanks!! im off to order a water temp sensor asap!!
  15. my dad bought a 200tdi disco not long ago, k reg, on the drive home it was apparent that it did seem quite top heavey, i had just broken a 300tdi disco to biuld my 80 on so i robbed the anti roll bars off it and put them on the 200, what a difference, so much easier to drive, very much improved for towing aswell, so i would say do it, well worth it. that rangey must have been doing more than 20mph to roll after just clipping the kerb..
  16. keep an eye out on ebay. they are always cheap, i think the most i have ever paid is 40quid!
  17. i have tryed my spare ecu and it runs spot on now! thanks every one for your help.
  18. 6x9 speaker, and any thing that slides down there....oh and a bottle jack...
  19. i have diconected it and it makes no change to how it starts or runs, so does that point to a problem? it always starts fine and fast idles as it should.
  20. hi thanks for the information, i have plugs leads and dizzy cap and rotor arm in the post, thought that would be the best place to start. i have 2 spare ecus from my racer that il try on the weekend so at least i can rule that out, i also have a new temparture sender which i can also try, thanks for the help and il let you know how i get on. p.s what does the 9th injecter do as i have been told to remove this which i have but i havnt realy noticed any change. many thanks
  21. another vote for speedglas, besides the welder its the best thing i bought!! parts a readily available through my snap-on dealer so no problems there, as far as im aware you can buy every part of it.
  22. no it was in a barn near me. the gas conversion has BRC stamped on it if that helps?? also when i first start it it runs perfect but after a minute or so starts to splutter and the revs drop and it starts to 'hunt' if i change over to gas its runs fine. any ideas??
  23. i have no idea what system it is, i have no idea about gas....i prefer things u can see!! there is a large distribution type thing on the passenger wing with loads of pipes going to it if that helps. what is mfr? thanks
  24. hi, i have just bought an E reg rangey for £300! ! its gas converted and only covered 45k!! its been sat for 6months but fired up first time, basicaly i want to know if there is anything i should know about the gas conversion (maintenance etc)? thanks hamish
