  1. Boys and girls, I do have some 65mm2 super braided copper winch cable available? used for 11KV outside in all weather so perfect for what we do I use it for my winches with crimped lugs and heat shrinked ends, if anybody is interested send me a pm for prices, its not that cheap but you won't have to buy any for the future . I can make them to any length, crimped up and heat shrinked. Covering is black with red or black ends. I will post a picture later if poss..... any interest? nath forgot to add the o/d for the cable is approx 20mm, it really is the dogs Bo++ocks for winches!
  2. Nope not yet, still waiting on the dvla for the ok on the log book With the current list of ideas and the list of bits parts i would need I will probably have to sell my tc to fund it and make it worth while , just doing some sums ?? Having 2 children under 4 is also a little time consuming, ; Full List: Full hydro front and rear, Coilovers, Disc conversion, double beadlock wheel, 44" super swampers, full cage and panels, LS6..... auto ....... have to sit down at this point... it is a U 1000 tx box that can be converted to a remote Tx case also mucho's ££££££ Also need a new compressor and probably time for plasma cutter for the build. not much really..... lol... Lets wait for the ok from the DVLA first. The only part I still do not have any ideas on is how to mount a cage on the chassis mounts without affecting any twist?? Thoughts??? cheers Nath
  3. Hi Tom, Superb picture exactly what i've been looking for !! Thanks. I intend to mount a cage on the very fron chassis mounts and then the first ones you see in that picture. I really can't fathem how to do that without affeting what flex i might acheive? The cage will stiffen the chasiss thrugh the bracings of the cage if that makes sense? The cage wil be at 8 main points, front hoop to the frear of the original cab/chassis mounts, rear hoop the front rear body mounts, then rear stays to each side of the chasiss at the back and finally front legs out to for the front hoop props? If it doesn't make sense have a little look at this works tomcat frame, not quite to the same level but you get the idea. Bare in mind that both landrovers and the mogs are roughly the same length
  4. thanks for the info chaps..... if there is enough interest i maybe able to souce a couple of the transfer boxes and get them converted. You would hopefully be able to use the torque tubes and spin the engine round to make it mid engined, they might not be too cheap i'm afraid but the options it offers are superb !! Anybody have any pictures of flexible mounts onto a chassis of a 404 mog please? shackle mounts and pivoting centres etc? AL..... any chance of some more info on the disc conversion and hubs for the 404's please, how the diesel conversion going too? Just out of interest if anybody is wiring up, dare i say it an electric winch I have some 65mm superbraided cable, very sexy stuff if i do say so myself i can supply it in any length with crimped ends on of your choice and red or black heat shrink to suit, send me a PM if your interested. nath
  5. thanks for the pictures, I believe that the owners call sign is ubermog? he seems to have mid mounted the engine using a chevy block and still uses the torque tubes??? I need to know more???
  6. Hi steve in know the thread your talking about on difflock, a chap called moggs has also converted his to a 6 cyl diesel out of a nissan and managed to add some power steering too? I am really fortunate that i live within 3 miles of two of the uks leading mog suppliers AC Price and Atkinson Vos. After picking their brians you can actually fit a transfer box of a u900 to utilise the torque tubes and then convert the input to the box to a prop drive allowing the use of any engine and box accordingly? As soon as I have one i'll let you know nath
  7. Hi Al, Its been a while! Don't know if you remember but i have tomcat on 404's the only problem is the wheel base is far too short and I really need to shove the axles forward and back to increae the wheel base. Dirty diesel did the disk conversion too. I just could turn down the rolling chassis at the time i'm sure you know how it is ! With the rear steer does that mean i can use the same shaft already on the back? just changing the end? that being the case I might take the axles of the tc and swap the ends over for a rock crawling mog build?using the disks etc with a longer tc body and pto winches from our friend Jerzy in poland? nath
  8. LANDROVER AXLES PROBABLY NOT LOL thanks for all the ideas, im just wiating for the dvla to send the paperwork back before i decided what to do, Rob... are the portal swivel ends a bolt on job? for the rear axles apart from the shafts? from looking all over the next possibilities are endless !! A tomcat cage will excatly fit ontop of the notmal mounts, but i'm not too sure how a cage will affect the flex of the chassis? We shall have to wait and see ! anybody got some 404 rims and tyres knocking around they don't need?? nath
  9. Hi Rob, Thanks for the info, already looked at the mog shop they have some great ideas for a 404, not sure what thier like for shipping parts etc but will give it a go? Dont suppose you know where the chassis number is exactly on a 404. Its on the passenger side i know( The mog being left hand drive of course) but really can't find it? thanks nath
  10. Doug you are a sick man !!!! I have only managed to find one little piccy of that mog a few months ago !!! Where did you manage to find those pic's please?? any more ? Anybody know where to get the spec's for that truck please? He has a standard back axle with front swivel ends on? never seen that before?? FYI A mog 404 chassis is exactly the same as a range rover ?? The cab an body mounts are in exactly the correct place for a tomcat cage ? and an inductrial steam cleaner will take chassis paint of and fire it directly into your face !!!! ask me how i know that today !!!!!
  11. Quite possibly i have heard the u number wrong when picking friends brians the other day, will have to pop round with pen and a pad next time... dare i say a u 900 the one with the bubble cab? definately air operated anyway, Space frame ???? Like the idea I do have a tomcat already and fancied building another on this chassis keeping it to the bare minimum, for weight reasons but i'm not too sure how not to affect the chassis flex ? I'm in no real rush and this is all probably going to be a long ish build over the next year anyway. Plus the 300tdi in the tc has just blown the head gasket !! Please keep the ideas coming and any pictures if poss? I might even do a build up thread if i have the time, nath
  12. Look what i've just bought? Unimog 404 rolling chassis. I have seen a couple of project using the original chassis and axles and building from there on wards but has anybody out there any usefull suggestions? or indeed built such a buggy on a chassis designed to flex? I don't intend to use the engine or box at all, but if i can utilise a u1000 transfer box I can have 2wd, 4wd High and low and difflock too ! all air actuated too ? and keep the torque tubes etc. Any suggestions???? nath
  13. Well saley, if nobody else will comment I think there bloody lovely !!!! nath
  14. Hi Tazza, thanks for the info i'll try this week ! cheers nath

  16. Hi Mark, The two wires i have left were the yellow and the Black with the brown trace which is coupled to the orange and black a little further down on the bit of a loom. It was this wire that is earthed in park and neutral, the yellow ? till tomorrow i suppose thanks nathan
  17. Well as the title says I have a 300 tdi auto the last of the 300's before the ecu's . I have fitted the engine and box from what I was lead to believe was a late classic tdi auto. every thing is spot on apart from wiring the auto inhibit. For competition reasons the vehicle must only start in Park and neutral. There are 6 wires coming from the auto and tranfer box and so far I have managed to work the following out and all working so far: Dark Green = live feed into the switch Light green with brown trace reverse feed out Black purple feed to the tranfer box, difflock light, black return out. Black with light brown trace coming out which has a orange with black trace joined on at the end, Seperate yellow wire too. Any help would be really appreciated with this !! cheers nathan

  22. Well its finally time to use the Tc in anger Could anybody let me know if there are any pay to play days comming up in and around the South Lakes area (Junc 36 of the M6) Or more into Yorkshire. After a reasonably long time out of the 4x4 world i need to see if the truck properly works and find out if I have any teething problems with the build. Any help would be great, Nath FYI I have added a few piccy's of the TC

  25. Hi simon, great disc brake and keep up the good work with all your inventions! With the combination of bigger and wider tyres on Saley's car and the fact he's lost some weight, it shouldn't sink too much on the AFC challenge this year! shirley ! B)
