  2. As per the title really. I am looking into buying a new tig welding set and would like your thoughts on what would be the best. ( single phase electric only im afraid) Thanks Nathan
  3. Hi dan Once i have my new concrete floor down this weekend i will be able to try and weigh the parts. What do you suspend the scales on?
  4. Evening.... not sure if this helps but as my truck is currently in bits... what would you like me to weigh? LS3 fully dressed 6l90e atlas case? bare 44 bogger-v's built up? bare 40" maxxis sticky? spidertrax pro series axles casing? my portal boxes? rd 99 air locker in alloy case? what type of scales are you guys using?..
  5. that looks really interesting and easy to mount too !! what are the prop flanges like? I have the 1350 large yank type......
  6. wont be going there... thats for sure ..............................
  7. looks a great build brilliant...... not wanting to hi jack this thread but have you considered what lighting you are going to use? I am just about to install some lighting and im not sure what to use?
  8. evening gents... I'm after your expert advice on where to source and the best solution on how to install a centre bearing. 1 does anybody know where i can source one of these please? Pic attached 2 what is the best approach to measuring where it needs to be mounted? Thanks in advance
  9. Thanks for the praise but it really was a team effort and i will pass the praise onto my friend Steve who did the work out his normal working hours to keep the costs down, and keep his own little business going. From what 'ive seen the boxes fail in a number of ways really. The cases really don't like an impact along the base... ( as do most things really !!) the quality of the bearings is also a weak spot, thus i have up-rated all 4 bearings in mine. Also improved the oil capacity too. I am also going to be running a different type of gear oil to keep the temperature down once the gears have bedded in. The ACM joints i will be using in the open knuckle parts of the spidertrax axles provide a true 50deg of lock....... front and rear? The truck has taken so long to develop that I will have to practice for a good while before i enter any comps,..... ( I;d look a right prat in this truck if forst time out i popped it on its roof ??) We can only try??
  10. bloody hell i cant leave them for 5 mins before more pictures are taken...... they are at Milners for some shaft sized loveliness....mmm shiny Dan. Soren.. they do you the main gears but with vastly improved internals, bearings etc. Fingers crossed they will be spot on !!! Anybody have any info on CTIS for mog axles please??
  11. yes not too far Will, just down the A65 towards Bentham,
  12. i think i prefer my own version Hopefully the rear of the portal can be developed to bolt to any axle case?
  13. I am lead to believe that from the 1st of April 2013, and for the next 3 years, the permitted development % for any build has been increased by 50% and that councils are legally obliged to consider all applications. Especially those that support the self employed? I am currently going through the same process with my new house with craven district council, It may be worth looking at? Nath
  14. a friend of mine once used spray on brake cleaner in a range rover sport he was working on at a dealers as he managed to place an oily hand print on the roof lining, a quick spray, light rub and then a little water on a damp cloth,,,,, you would never know ! he did look like he had done it before
  15. Great work on the winch and thank you for sharing your findings... Does anybody know how this would work with an automatic gearbox?????? would it speed up and down with the strain on the cable through the gears or would you have to keep it in selected 1st? Also have you tried drive assist with it yet??? thanks nath
  16. I've seen quite a few of the direct drive type pto winches and none have broken the splines to date....... we have been lifting... large steel transformers up power lines even to the point the actual, landrover was going up with it Daan, how do you get on with drive assist with your winch? nath
  17. Hi Soren, I will e-mail a good friend of mine who has completed in 100's of KM off road in europe in his white tomcat with twin drum pto mechanical rear winch. The car is awesome and inspired me to build my last tomcat. The winch again is superb and I would vouch for anything he has to say on PTO winches and pretty much gospel. we competed in the original tay trophy and it was his car that went back and recovered ....... twin motored......said winches and won spirit of the event . He winched his own car to almost the top of the hill( V F Steep) and then moved the drive to the rear spooled drum and pulled the 90 I was co driving up the hill till the bumpers were touching and then both trucks to the V top. Awesome. PM me for more details buddy. Nath

  19. Looks superb, Having wanted a pto winch for along time. any having looked into many different types. What makes this different? From what I can remember using the pto on an lt230 means you cannot use drive also? You can use the gearbox gears to speed up the winch but not drive the wheels at the same time? Am I right in thinking this? Tin hat on waiting!!!
  20. Hi Soren, Hope your well and the MOG is going great, Sounds a great idea to be honest, those that are available always go for daft money. Just remember that any output will need some method of lubrication channel on the shafts" sounds dodgy I know" but the genuine pto's have a small e-longagted oil feed, Keep me posted please
  21. Great video , Well done, nice to see 4x4 drivers enjoying the outdoors responsibly, Nath
