  1. Hi, Had this when we went to pick up a Disco for a mate, the lever wouldn't go over to the difflock position, only back and forth, so only high and low gears. We took off the lever cover from the centre console and just worked it side to side and with a little gentle persuation it freed up after a little while. Funnily enough i now have this on my 2004 Disco 2 which doesn't want to budge except to go fwd and back and altho i know it was deleted around about this time but because it has the hi-lo difflock sticker on the console i wondered if it is actually there as i would have thought LR wouldn't have put a sticker there if it wasn't ? The handbooks not that informative either and i think its going to be a gaiter off and work it from side to side again ! Anyone have any ideas pls? Thank's, Mark
  2. Cheers Aragorn, Its a 200tdi thru an LT77 and i assume you're talking 90 props as i have TD and 2.5 petrol props from 90's and a couple of prs of disco props, 2x300's and also a pr from a 200 ? Seems like i collect props ! If it comes to it i can shorten one i have but it will work out (unusually) well if one i have will fit. I wasn't sure if they fitted salisbury's on any 90's, possibly military ones, anyone ? Thank's, Mark
  3. Hi, I'm in need of some advice as i've just got a disc'd rear salisbury axle to go on my 90 and want to know what prop to use. The 90 will pretty much only be used off road and i'll prob end up getting a wide yoke / dbl cardon prop at some stage but want to know if theres a std prop that'll fit for now. I've got 90 and Disco props about altho i've not looked at it properly yet and if i need to shorten one thats ok but i was hoping a D2 dble cardon might fit and if anyone knew ? Thank's, Mark
  4. Hi, Can anyone offer some advice pls on a D2 i'm thinking of buying which has a problem with the ABS, T.C and H.D.C. The car drives and brakes ok but the lights are showing on the dash and i'm told (by the seller) its the ABS sensor which cannot be changed and req's new hubs ? Is this a correct diagnosis and if so how big a job are they to do and whats the worst it could be pls, i'm also told they're about £200 each ? Thank's for any help, Mark
  5. Hi Peter, What about trying Exmoor Trim or All Wheel Trim who make and supply canvas tilts etc as i'm sure they'd do them or atleast know where to get them from. H.T.H. Mark
  6. Hi Spen, I had the same with my 90, it clicked etc so i used to give the solenoid a sharp tap (as they can stick with dirt and carp in) with a long ext bar i used for undoing the wheel nuts. It worked for a while but i ended up getting a new starter motor anyway and was really suprised what a difference it made when starting as it flew round instead of the slow laboured cranking i had before so it obv wasn't up to much and prob just about hanging on. If you need to get it home can't you bump start it and mess about with it there ? Mark
  7. From memory its as Western says above but it is a P.I.T.A. tho !! Mark
  8. Hi, I've got some 38mm and 50mm thick waffle boards here if you want some. They're 1220mm long and 310mm wide with the heavy grit finish in a few different colours, give me a call if you're interested. I'll add a post on the for sale board too. Mark 07525943842
  9. Hi, I work for a motor Co based in Dagenham, Essex and was told about the card by someone at work prob about 2 yrs ago and to be honest i've only used it a couple of times as its usually a.p.i.t.a. to find out how much stuff is as its not just a set % discount and varies from item to item so they have to look it up on their system first to give you a price and then as said before you don't get the special offers. I'll look into some of the stuff mentioned by others though ! Mark
  10. I think he means the other end, the brkt that goes onto the axle
  11. Cheers Les, Thanks for that as when i took the turbo off and looked at it i thought i'd get away with only having to drill and tap one of the brkt bolts as when i turn it it'll effectively just move up a hole but i'll offer it up and have a good look at it either later today or tomorrow. I must also say that i've read and used some of your excellent technical write ups, thanks ! Thank's, Mark
  12. Hi Anderzander, What do you mean by "clocking" the Turbo ? I mean rotating it, upwards i think, through 90 degrees, is this right and i saw about the drilling and tapping but what clip do you mean pls ? Thank's, Mark
  13. Hi, Thanks for all the replies so far as altho i'd heard/read/been told about turning the Turbo i only looked at this briefly the other night and to be honest it didn't look too much hassle and the only bit, and i wouldn't even call it that difficult, was the drilling and tapping of one of the waste gate brkt bolts which alter due to turning the Turbo round. Yes, there are kits out there which inc the downpipe and all the hoses and pipework etc, i've bought a Steve Parker downpipe myself, i have a 300tdi intercooler pipe which i thought i'd look at using and it saves me having to buy anything else plus i'd like the job to look more of a std fitment (altho its obv not)as i've gone to the trouble of drilling and counterboring the flywheel housing, tapping the bellhousing, replacing the crank seals front and back, changing the cambelt and tensioner, replacing the spigot bush and a couple of other bits i can't remember . From what i saw the other night when i looked at it quickly, roughly holding the 300 intercooler pipework in position it seemed to look more like it was meant to be there rather than pieces of hose, tubing and jubilee clips and it also avoids another option which has been suggested of cutting the inner wing. So going back to the original question, has anyone done it this way pls ? Thank's, Mark
  14. I'm fitting a Disco 200tdi into my 90 (occassionally between other stuff like work and decorating) and am looking at turning the Turbo round to then use a 300tdi intercooler pipe. I think i've read about this being done somewhere but couldn't find it so has anyone got any advice pls ? Thank's, Mark
  15. Hi, For what its worth I've done alot of these at work for testing purposes and never to use on the road but i've seen Disco rims with reversed spiders and as long as they're set up well with a d.t.i.(for run-out) and the weldings good i can't see why they wouldn't be ok off road and for competition altho i must admit i'd be a bit wary of using them on the road, infact i'd say don't. A wheel is classed as a life and limb (safety) item so it has to be built properly to certain standards and tested etc etc and any tampering with it would definately cause problems with your insurance and probably the police in the case of an accident. Mark
  16. As White 90, NAS 90 (Dave) is a very helpful chap and altho i haven't used him to cut anything he fwd'd some drawings for something i wanted to make and asked on here about when everybody else was very reluctant to offer any help and advice !! Mark
  17. As said above i'd consider a couple of alternatives, Go bigger as to helicoil you'll have to anyway and/or drill and tap from the back if you have more access. As for no room for a tap wrench either use an open ended spanner, a long tap or tap extension or a ratchet tap wrench altho these tend to be fairly large dia's Mark
  18. Hi All, I was asked the other eve by my g/f's neighbour if i knew of anywhere he could take his TD5 110 for servicing as he didn't want to be spending LR dealer money altho he wants it done properly as its his daily transport. I'm not sure of yr, poss 51 plate ? but its done 50k miles so not that much really and up until recently has had it done at a main dealer i believe but i think he had a bad exp with them and doesn't want to give them anymore business. Unfortunately all my LR's are too old to warrant any other type of servicing other than what i do myself and apart from knowing where dealers are, altho the nearest to me, Lookers at Hadleigh has closed i couldn't help but said i'd ask on here for him. He lives in Chingford, London, E4 Thank's, Mark
  19. Excuse my lack of understanding on this but i've got a Garmin 310 and want to know if i can use any OS mapping for laning etc. Garmin do their own system, mapsource, but my unit isn't compatible with it, does anyone know which ones are and where i can locate them pls, pref to download for free ? A friend has memory map on a road angel unit i think and when we went laning it was excellent so thought i'd have a look into it. The other thing is that the screens are obv small so how do people get around that, can i use a cheap laptop or PDA with the right software ? Sorry if there are some silly questions in there but comps and all this new fangled stuff isn't my forte, give me a spanner and a nut and bolt any day ! Thank's, Mark
  20. Hi Paul, And everyone who was obviously reluctant to offer any help as they thought i would be stepping on someones toes making them to sell, i can understand that and i'm sorry if anyone jumped to the wrong conclusion but no, i want to make them for myself and have no plans to go into production making beadlocks ! The question seems to have roughled a few feathers tho as i've seen lots of posts on here and other forums requesting sizes and dimensions for bits people want to make etc ! Thank's, Mark
  21. Has anyone got the dia's pls ? Thank's, Mark
  22. Hi all, Thanks for the replies but the reason i'm gonna have a go at making some is quoted above altho i still need to know the o/d and i/d of the rings pls ? Thank's, Mark
  23. Hi, I'm thinking of making some beadlockers and need some info pls;- Thickness of material used The i/d of the ring (is it smaller than i/d of tyre and how much ? The dia of bolt ring (is this i/d dia of tyre) ? How many bolts, the more the better ? What size bolts M8 / M10 or ... ? Captive (welded) nuts to inner ring or nut and bolt or riv nuts altho poss not strong enough ? Thank's, Mark
  24. I went to sell and had a good day, selling a couple of sets of wheels and tyres and all my waffle boards plus some other bits and pieces so def worth going for me. I thought it was more like the Old Sod if abit smaller but i didn't get a chance to look around as i also wanted to buy some stuff but some mates did and they seemed to get a few bargains. Dunno if i'll sell in Oct as want a change and to look for stuff i want but will def go. Mark
  25. Got to be the Aldi one i bought for £8.99 i think, but anyway it was less than a tenner and it comes, as do all their tools with a 3 yr guarantee and it even had a spare set of brushes which is something i hadn't seen for a while. Its actually made by Wolf which i found out after totally abusing it cutting and grinding loads and it eventually giving up the ghost after almost 2 yrs and having it replaced F.O.C. Excellent service and i wouldn't hesitate in recommending their (Aldi or Wolf) tools again ! And No, i don't work for either of them ! Mark
