Fair point.. I might have to go check a few out. D3 D4 and Q7 cheers for reply
-
young one sleeps inside. Not looked yet but q7 must be large inside ? Bloody thing is huuuge. totally agree about the defender though, not knowing if you will make it there is half the adventure. done nc500 couple years ago and apart from a burst rad that I fixed roadside it was faultless. could I do that on a d4 or x5 ? š

All I did think about a D2 but I think I just want newer 110 Is deffo basic but I have upgraded some bits, c/locking is a must

Appreciate the reply Stephen thanks. I have met with Ed a couple years ago now. It was his info that helped me to install Range Rover sport seats. ( a mission in itself and still not properly wired in) the seats are super comfy but as I get older and more rounded itās the small things like elbow space etc that annoy me. I do still love the 110 but due to a new role at work I find I have less time now days to ātinkerā if I am completely honest though I think I agree, Iām better off keeping the 110. just needed others to tell me š so itās 2-0 for the defender at the minute

Cheers for reply As my bones get more achey I guess Iām looking for more comfort ultimately. Looking to spend less time under the truck and more time inside it. Rain and winds ideally kept to the outside. Less noise. still want to load it up for camping but would like to make it a more pleasurable drive to, from and around. forgot to add this isnāt a daily driver. More a toy / weekend thing.

Advice please.. currently own a 110csw but slowing falling out of love. Been superb for a good 7years now and used mainly for camping trips. But after the NC500 Iām considering a swap to a disco 3 or 4 or maybe even something like an Audi q7, x5 Touareg ?? Undecided .. apologies for mentioning the others so for camping, who would go for what.??? I love the defender for how cheap and easy most fixes are but anything newer scares me a little to be honest. No where near as many enthusiasts as LR owners, but even newer discos scare me with all the electricary stuff and general prices for repairs. on my200tdi I can climb in the engine bay with some spannerās and fix things. Loving the disco 4 for looks and space.. just need others to talk me into it.. or out of as the case may be cheers all

Side mounted pull-out weather shelter
Chambo110 replied to Troll Hunter's topic in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
I made a side addition out of 25mm box and the push in connector thingys..covered in a waterproof and wind proof very tough material.. Iāll dig out a link to it..lasted well for a good few years, even the NC500. I then changed to a Vango side awning for a more āproā look. I went with the poled version but now wish I hadnāt been so tight and gone for the pump up air version. good thing with the Vango is that you can leave kit in it, detach from vehicle and clear off for the day in the truck. -
Iāll be honest I couldnāt ever see me drifting in my 110. I would end up spending me money on new pants instead of parts Great info though š

Best wishes for speedy recovery

Got ya š good one to remember cheers

I like that check.. good idea. Iāll try a run out today then see what I can feel. Pretty sure I done all of them about 2yrs ago, very limited mileage since then (probably about 300 per year) except for the nc500 run which added about 2100 just last week. appreciate the quick reply š

Anyone offer anything ?? got a noise appeared on way back from nc500. Sounds like wheel bearing but had all 4 off the ground and nothing seems to move or jiggle around noise seems to appear between 50&55 then disappears, fine upto 70 but then again between 70&72 and fine again after that .. not that it goes much further diff oils are looking fine. Not checked both boxes yet .. but no obvious leaks ( unless they are empty of course) lol quick google and someone mentions prop weights or Ujās ?? anyone thanks troops

Apologies for delay.. I been off grid. cheers Reb.. sounds like Iām in similar situation as you were. Roof tent plus other bits on a rack. I deffo need to get the bar fitted I think. Thanks

Hmmm .. pretty sure the rad was fairly newish.. 2017 I think but probably only 1500 miles max. Would of expected something else to give first. Hey ho.. all good for now š
-
Appreciate the info fellas.. jelly on wheels sounds spot on.. I think I may invest. Pretty sure the chassis mounts are there. cheers
-
Reviving an old one.. my 1987 110 csw doesnāt have one. Is it supposed to ?? did notice doing the nc500 that Iām rocking a bit š±

Cheers fellas.. all back home again now after 2100miles. No more issues. Apart from a funny noise when at 70mph. Iāll look into that next week. forgot to take pic of rad damage but it was basically split where the red pen is in pic below. The plastic here is about 5mm thick so I would of thought a hose or something else would of given up first. maybe manufacturing defect. hey ho cheers

Apologies for delay .. yep got it sorted. Loch carron garage services were very helpful. Part turned out to be 4 days away. Kids werenāt happy. I managed to source a part myself then the garage sent 1 of their guys to collect.. 3.5hrs later it was here. Fitted myself in half hour then back on with the trip.. kids happy again. So far temp not gone above 90 Cheers fellas

Thatās all 3 of us then lol ill keep eyes on wear and let ya know this time next year. Reviews / tests I read up on suggest they perform better. But I think Iāll be the judge. cheers mate. I love the way it looks now. Original wheels that came with it were boosts. But the fella I got it from called me about a year after the sale and said I had forgot to take the mud wheels and tyres that were part of the sale. Very honest. these are the wheels that are on it now, but they had malatesta kaiman tyres on. Muds,, and although I couldnāt fault the way they behaved.. even in snow, I eventually succumb to the noise levels. Must be getting old . so in shortā¦. I have no idea of the offset. there is a 30mm spacer on aswell. I know I know about axle stresses etc. But if I didnāt spend my money and time on this thing I would be at a festival with the wife today watching Whitney Houston and some other clown š¤” cheers all for the assistance as always
